Abstract

Purpose: The main goal of this paper is to present challenges stemming primarily from the ‘BANI world’ and the VUCA approach, particularly in one of the actually key areas of quality, regarding aspects of security.
Design/methodology/approach: The raised issues are crucial for identifying a rational approach to shape a secure data and information flow system within an organization, thus providing a chance to gain customer trust in their interactions with the organization.
Findings/conclusions: Analysis of the presented proposals indicates that rational proposals are being formulated for effective solutions to the problems raised regarding qualitative aspects of security.
Research limitations: The approach referred to as the ‘BANI world,’ describing the shape of the world around us, still gives the impression of an incomplete understanding of the issues it presents, and therefore, the set of its elements, including those related to security aspects, may require further exploration.
Practical implications: The issues raised in this article and the proposed actions and solutions should be applicable in real-world confrontations with the challenges of the ‘BANI world’, concerning the discussed range of security aspects.
Originality/value: The available literature on the ‘BANI world’, and particularly the methods and means addressed to its challenges, is currently limited in its broad perspective, although to a lesser extent in relation to the discussed security aspects.
