Abstract

Purpose: The primary objective is to determine the importance of internal and external factors influencing the development of Polish vineyards, using the Wielkopolska Voivodeship as a case study. The secondary objective is to characterize vineyard owners and identify the factors determining an investor’s decision to establish a vineyard.
Design/methodology/approach: The goal was achieved using an original survey questionnaire and data from the National Support Center for Agriculture (KOWR). The study was conducted using the CAWI method via Google Forms. The results were analyzed using the PCA and CA methods. The wine industry
in the marketing years 2011/2012 – 2021/2022 was also analyzed.
Findings/conclusions: The study involved 11 (52%) vineyard owners in Wielkopolska. The founders of vineyards are most often men over 50. The key predispositions influencing the investment decision are, on the business side, the hobby aspect, and on the personal side, managerial competences. Internal
factors supporting the development of winemaking are financial and social aspects, while organizational and management aspects create challenges. External factors supporting development are initiation and environmental factors, while economic factors hinder it.
Research limitations: The limitations of the conducted research include the problem of identifying vineyards in the Wielkopolska province resulting from the lack of a uniform list.
Practical implications: The results can serve as a guide for potential investors by indicating factors that hinder or facilitate the development of vineyards.
Originality/value: The literature on the subject lacks research on the importance of environmental impact on the development of Polish vineyards and investment decisions.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to present the methods of merging organizations in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Code and to determine the impact it has on the sphere of enterprise management, particularly on the environmental management system. It seems that the issues raised in the article are important due to the commonness of the phenomenon of enterprise consolidation. The text includes a case study that highlights the main elements of the ISO 14000 series system, focusing on the approach to identifying environmental aspects of selected merging companies. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that there are diversified environmental effects, despite the fact that the entities operate in the same sector. The case study also presents the newly introduced rules for the qualification of aspects within the consolidated entity.
Design/methodology/approach: The study used both a literature review and a case study of five consolidated enterprises.
Findings/conclusions: The main conclusions focus on the statement that a specific mode of merging companies, resulting in the adoption of a specific organizational structure, requires a rapid reconstruction of the environmental management system. The analysis of the approach to the qualification of environmental aspects in two examples of merging entities within a group indicates a significant differentiation in criteria, which means that we are dealing with different efficiency of environmental systems despite operating in the same sector.
Research limitations: The analysis of the different approaches to the qualification of environmental aspects in similar entities may result in conclusions regarding the need to work on the need to standardize guidelines in this area in the new version of the standard.
Practical implications: Possibility of following the presented principles of qualification of environmental aspects (benchmarking).
Originality/value: There is a lack of works in the literature on the subject concerning adjustment processes related to environmental management systems, in particular in the context of entity consolidation processes. The article fills this gap.

Abstract

Purpose: The main objective of the article is to highlight the role of activities that improve the quality of education in reducing the dropout phenomenon, i.e., students abandoning their studies, particularly at the university level.
Design/methodology/approach: The issues discussed in the text stem from the observed phenomenon of an increasing number of students discontinuing their studies.
Findings/conclusions: An analysis of the available materials shows that higher quality education significantly reduces the occurrence of dropout cases.
Research limitations: Presented research results are limited mainly to Europe and Poland.
Practical implications: The issues raised in the article should inspire university authorities to improve the quality of education, aiming, among other things, to reduce the number of dropout cases.
Originality/value: In the literature on methods for reducing the dropout phenomenon, the aspect of the impact of improving the quality of education is insufficiently emphasized.
